We are seeking a dynamic, nurturing, energetic educator with a pioneering spirit and enthusiasm for bringing innovative, nature-based education to families in and around Lynn, Massachusetts, a multi-ethnic community 15 miles north of Boston. Cairn Hill Nature Preschool opened in September, 2017 and is growing rapidly. We are seeking a teacher for an anticipated second classroom. Cairn Hill’s mission is to bring the transformative power of the arts to young learners in urban and multi-ethnic communities using story, music, nature and the hands-on approach inspired by Waldorf education. Our nature preschool provides preschoolers aged 2.9 years-5 years with a high quality preschool experience incorporating inquiry–based, outdoor learning with explicit instruction in preliteracy, math and science. We include art and music, nature walks and gardening daily and allow children time for valuable, creative play in a calm, nurturing environment.

Salary competitive, commensurate with experience
· 3-5 years preschool teaching experience · Ideally, familiarity with arts-based Early Childhood education +/or Environmental education · MA DEEC Lead Teacher Certification · Some experience working with dual language learners (DLLs) · Willingness to work outdoors in all weather · Love of children and warm, nurturing personality · Excellent written and verbal communication skills · Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Social Media, Blogging, etc.) · Collaborative, team player approach · Openness to networking and communicating with a progressive educational community with the goal of fusing public educational standards with innovative curricular methods. · Bachelor’s degree preferred

Cairn Hill’s mission is to bring the transformative power of the arts to young learners in urban and multi-ethnic communities using story, music, nature and the hands-on approach inspired by Waldorf education. Our new nature preschool provides children aged 2.9 years-5 years with a high quality preschool experience incorporating play and inquiry–based, outdoor learning with explicit instruction in literacy, math and science. Our approach features storytelling, science and nutrition awareness through gardening and nature walks and daily exposure to arts and music. Position is part-time Qualifications: • Waldorf Early Childhood Training • Interest in a nature-based and arts approach to education • Love of children and desire to bring the Waldorf approach to a diverse population • Openness to learning and working in a classroom that blends Waldorf pedagogy with some amount of kindergarten readiness instruction • Eagerness to co-create a curriculum with colleagues • A cooperative classroom team player • Self-motivated on the job • Ability to work outdoors in all weather for an extended period of time, in woodland, garden and play yard settings • 6 months working in a licensed early childhood facility preferred • Willingness to document Early Childhood coursework for MA Preschool certification, with assistance from Preschool Director Compensation commensurate with qualifications and experience.
